Data Storage and Backup
Storage VPS plans do not include automatic backups or snapshots. These features are also not available as optional add-on services. Therefore, customers are responsible for arranging backups of their important data. To improve fault tolerance, you can use two independent Storage VPS servers with data synchronization configured between them. This allows you to store copies of your data on separate servers and reduce the risk of data loss if one of them fails. To protect against accidental deletion, corruption, or encryption of files, we also recommend using versioned backups stored independently of the primary server.

Reliable VPS Infrastructure
KVM Hardware Virtualization
Each Storage VPS operates as an independent virtual machine powered by KVM technology. Unlike container-based virtualization, each server runs its own Linux kernel and has an isolated system environment. You can modify system configurations, manage services, install drivers, and deploy software without the restrictions associated with containers. The operating system runs independently of the configurations of other virtual servers. KVM provides full hardware virtualization with support for modern Linux features.
Automatic DDoS Protection
All Storage VPS servers are protected against DDoS attacks at the data center's network infrastructure level. The system continuously monitors network traffic, detects suspicious activity, and automatically applies filtering mechanisms. Malicious traffic is blocked before it reaches the virtual server, reducing the risk of network connection overload. Protection operates independently of the installed operating system and does not consume VPS resources for initial attack filtering. This service is included in the price of every plan and requires no separate activation.
Independent Access via VNC
In addition to standard SSH access, customers receive access to a remote VNC console. It allows you to manage your server even when SSH is unavailable due to network configuration errors, blocked ports, or SSH service failures. Through VNC, you can monitor the Linux boot process, view system messages, correct firewall settings, and restore access to your server. No additional services need to be installed inside the VPS to establish a connection. Console access is provided along with the server's login credentials.
Static IPv4 Address and IPv6 /64 Subnet
Each Storage VPS comes with its own static IPv4 address and supports the modern IPv6 protocol. A dedicated IPv6 /64 subnet allows you to assign different addresses to individual websites, containers, applications, and network services on a single server. This is particularly useful for infrastructures running numerous independent services that require their own network addresses. IPv4 ensures compatibility with traditional networks, while IPv6 enables modern network configurations without the need to purchase additional IPv4 addresses.
Storage VPS by WorkHost — More SSD Storage for Less
WorkHost Storage VPS plans are full-featured Linux virtual servers with increased SSD storage capacity. They combine the capabilities of a standard VPS with cost-effective storage, making them ideal for projects that need to store large amounts of data without renting a dedicated physical server.
Unlike specialized file storage services, Storage VPS is not limited to storing and transferring files. It is an independent server capable of running websites, databases, container platforms, business applications, and custom software.
Large SSD Storage for Web Projects
Storage VPS is particularly attractive to web studios, developers, and companies managing large numbers of websites. A single server can host dozens of WordPress projects, website demos, testing environments, media libraries, and databases.
The large SSD storage capacity allows you to keep production and testing copies of your projects without constantly transferring files between servers. The number of websites that can run simultaneously depends on their resource usage and the available VPS resources.
Custom Cloud and Server Solutions
Storage VPS is suitable for deploying Nextcloud, BTCPay Server, Docker, and other compatible applications. For example, Nextcloud allows you to create private file storage with data synchronization, while BTCPay Server enables you to build your own infrastructure for accepting cryptocurrency payments.
Customers are not limited to pre-installed software. They can use the server to run their own applications, modify their configurations, and install additional services to meet their project’s requirements.
Ready-to-Use Server with Essential Software
When ordering a Storage VPS from WorkHost, you can choose an operating system, control panel, or available server application. This allows you to receive a server with pre-installed software without having to perform the initial installation yourself.
After activation, the customer receives the server’s hostname, root access credentials, and VNC connection details. If an application or control panel was ordered, the corresponding login credentials are also provided.
Further Linux administration, software installation, and server service configuration are performed directly on the VPS.
Which Storage VPS Should You Choose?
WorkHost plans differ not only in SSD storage capacity but also in available computing resources. For file storage, testing environments, or low-resource applications, you can choose an entry-level configuration.
For hosting a large number of websites, running multiple Docker containers, or operating several server applications simultaneously, it is advisable to choose a plan with more RAM and CPU resources.
If maximum disk performance is your priority, you should also compare Storage VPS with WorkHost’s NVMe VPS plans.
VPS Locations
WorkHost virtual servers are available in locations across different regions of the world, allowing you to deploy your VPS closer to your website’s primary audience or service users.
For European projects, reliable server locations are available across Europe. You can also choose locations in other regions depending on your project requirements and target geography.
This is especially important for international websites, SaaS services, APIs, and other projects where the physical distance between the server and the user affects network latency.
The range of available VPS locations is continuously expanding, so the list of countries and data centers may grow as WorkHost’s server infrastructure develops.

How Does Storage VPS Differ from a Standard SSD or NVMe VPS?
The main advantage of Storage VPS is its significantly larger SSD storage capacity at an affordable price. These servers are designed for projects where storage capacity is more important than maximum disk performance.
At the same time, Storage VPS remains a fully functional virtual server with no restrictions on the types of software you can run. However, if your project requires maximum IOPS and minimal disk latency, we recommend considering NVMe VPS.
What Types of Projects Is Storage VPS Best Suited For?
Storage VPS is particularly cost-effective for projects that require large amounts of SSD storage without demanding high CPU performance. These include private Nextcloud storage solutions, file servers, media libraries, archives, backup servers, testing environments, and collections of demo websites.
At the same time, Storage VPS remains a versatile Linux server, so its potential uses extend far beyond file storage.
For high-traffic online stores, mission-critical business systems, and projects that require automatic backups and maximum disk performance, we recommend considering WorkHost SSD or NVMe VPS plans with the appropriate backup capabilities.
Are Backups and Snapshots Included with Storage VPS?
No. Storage VPS plans do not include automatic backups or snapshots. These features are also unavailable as optional add-on services.
Customers are responsible for backing up their own data. For critical information, we recommend using independent external storage or a second Storage VPS with a backup solution configured. Simple synchronization between two servers is not a substitute for versioned backups.
What Access Do I Get with Storage VPS?
After server activation, you will receive the hostname, root credentials for SSH access, and access to the remote VNC console.
If you select a control panel or server application when ordering, WorkHost will perform the initial installation and provide the corresponding login credentials.
Further operating system administration, software installation, and server service configuration are performed directly on the VPS.
What Add-On Services Are Available for Storage VPS?
You can order an additional IPv4 address and Private Networking for your Storage VPS.
An additional IPv4 address allows you to use separate public IP addresses for different network services or applications. Private Networking enables private network connections between compatible servers without routing internal traffic through the public Internet.
The availability of additional networking options depends on the selected server configuration and location.
