Operating System Installation
We will install one of the operating systems available in the VPS configuration list during checkout. Installation of other or custom operating systems is not included in basic management.
Control Panel Installation
We will install one of the control panels offered by WorkHost for VPS and configure access to it. If the selected panel requires a paid license, the license fee is charged separately.
Basic Nginx / Apache / OpenLiteSpeed Configuration
We will install and perform a standard configuration of Nginx, Apache, or OpenLiteSpeed for hosting websites. Custom configurations, additional modules, and individual setups are configured separately.
PHP Installation and Configuration
We will install a supported version of PHP and standard modules from the official repositories. Installation of custom modules, builds, or specialized PHP configurations is not included in basic management.
Basic MySQL / MariaDB Configuration
We will install MySQL or MariaDB from the standard repositories and perform the initial database server configuration. Optimization of specific databases and custom configurations are handled separately.
SSL Certificate Installation
We will help issue or install an SSL certificate for your website with a standard control panel or web server configuration. Paid SSL certificates are charged separately.
Configuration of an Additional Purchased I
We will assign an additional IP address purchased for and allocated to this VPS and perform the standard network configuration.
Initial OS and System Package Updates
During the initial VPS setup, we will install available OS and system package updates from the official repositories. Regular server updates thereafter are not included in basic management.

How Do I Connect to My VPS After Activation?
For Linux servers, SSH is the primary method of remote administration. You can connect using the Linux/macOS terminal, Windows Terminal, PuTTY, or another SSH client. Authentication is performed using a password or SSH key, while administrative tasks are carried out by a user with the appropriate privileges. SSH also allows secure file transfers via SFTP.
What Hostname Should I Use for My VPS?
For a VPS, it is recommended to use a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN), such as server.example.com or vps1.example.com, that correctly resolves to the server’s IP address.
A properly configured hostname is important for system services, SSL certificates, mail servers, and control panels. Some server control panels explicitly require an FQDN during installation or initial setup.
For the hostname, it is best to use a dedicated subdomain rather than the website’s main domain, for example, host.example.com. DirectAdmin specifically recommends against using example.com itself as the hostname, as this may cause conflicts with email and other domain services.
Can I Host Multiple Domains on One VPS?
Yes. A VPS itself does not limit you to a single domain or website. You can host multiple domains, websites, and separate web services on one server. The practical number depends on the VPS resources, web server configuration, project workloads, and, if a commercial control panel is used, its licensing terms.
What Is PTR or Reverse DNS?
Reverse DNS (rDNS) is a reverse DNS record that maps a server’s IP address to a domain name using a PTR record. While standard DNS determines which IP address corresponds to a domain name, rDNS works in the opposite direction — it determines the domain name associated with an IP address.
A properly configured PTR record is especially important for mail servers, as it is used to verify the server’s reputation and authenticity alongside SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
For WorkHost VPS servers, PTR / Reverse DNS setup or changes are handled upon request by technical support. Simply provide the server’s IP address and the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) that the PTR record should point to.
Is It Necessary to Install a Control Panel on a VPS?
No. A control panel is not a required part of a VPS. The server can be fully managed via SSH and standard operating system tools.
A control panel is primarily used for convenience: it provides a graphical interface for managing websites, domains, databases, PHP, SSL, email, and other services. At the same time, the control panel itself consumes some of the server’s CPU, RAM, and disk space, so it is often not installed at all in specialized configurations. This approach is also common among major VPS providers: a basic virtual machine can be provided without a control panel, leaving the user to decide whether one is needed.
